American Chestnut wood.
A piece of American History and a one of a
kind, work of art manufactured with
American Chestnut wood is from trees that
were harvested prior to the 1940’s and is
being recycled from old homes, barns and
outbuildings found in Southern Kentucky.
The eastern hardwood forest was about one
fifth American Chestnut prior to a fungal
blight that came into New York Harbor
from the Orient in 1906 and killed more
than three billion trees over the next 40
years. American Chestnut is straight
grained, lightweight, very rot resistant and
a most unique, beautiful wood.
